PRIVACY
LAST UPDATED 2 NOVEMBER 2026
The short version: we keep your cats' names and the first names you add for chefs. No emails or passwords. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold. Delete your account any time in settings.
This page covers the Cat Fibs iPhone app and the web version at catfibs.com/app. "We" means Sarah Francis, who makes Cat Fibs and is responsible for your information. You can reach her at hello@catfibs.com.
WHAT WE KEEP
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your household's cats: names, nicknames, feeding lines, and how they look and sound in the app | So everyone in the household sees the same cats | Until the household is deleted |
| First names you add for chefs and temporary cover | To show who fed the cats | Until the household is deleted (old tins still say who fed them) |
| Each tin and kibble top-up: when, who, and which cats | The tin log | The detail for 9 days, then just the daily totals, until the household is deleted |
| The household's settings: tins a day, feeding times, time zone, holiday dates | So the app works the same on every phone | Until the household is deleted |
| A random account number for each phone, the kind of device ("iPhone") and when it was last seen | So only phones you've let in can see the household | Until you delete your account; unused accounts after 30 days |
| Requests to join ("knocks") | So someone at home can let a new phone in | 2 days |
| A notification token, if you switch on feeding time reminders | To send reminders and knocks to your iPhone | Until you delete your account or leave |
| Apple's private ID for you, only if you use Sign in with Apple | So your household moves with you to a new iPhone | Until you delete your account |
| A scrambled code made from your internet address, changed daily | To stop anyone guessing household codes | Cleared within a day |
We never ask for your email, phone number, full name, location, contacts or photos. Sign in with Apple is optional, and we ask Apple for no name or email.
If you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
Households that nobody has opened for 400 days are deleted automatically.
WHO CAN SEE IT
Only the phones in your household. A new phone has to be let in by someone already there. Temporary cover can see the cats and the tin log while they're on duty, but can't change anything.
We use a few services to run Cat Fibs. They only handle your information to provide their part of the service:
- Supabase stores the household data, in Ireland (EU).
- Apple Push Notification service delivers reminders and knocks to iPhones.
- Netlify hosts this website and the web version.
Like any website, these services see your internet address when your phone connects, and may keep it in short-lived security logs. We don't store it ourselves.
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking across apps or websites, and we never sell your information.
ON YOUR PHONE
The app and the web version save your household on your phone so they open quickly and work without a signal. The website uses no cookies for tracking.
DELETING IT
- Delete my account: Settings › This phone › DELETE MY ACCOUNT. Your phone leaves every household, and its account, notification token and Apple sign-in go too. If you were the last one in a household, the household goes with it.
- Leave a household: Settings › LEAVE THIS HOUSEHOLD.
- Delete a whole household: the person who started it can tap DELETE THIS HOUSEHOLD in settings. Every tin goes, for everyone.
Or email hello@catfibs.com and we'll do it for you.
YOUR RIGHTS
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how it's used. Email hello@catfibs.com. We use your information because it's needed to run the app you've asked for. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
CHILDREN
Cat Fibs is suitable for everyone. It only asks for first names, and we don't knowingly collect anything else about children.
CHANGES
If this page changes, the date at the top changes too. Anything big will be mentioned in the app's update notes.
